I had my first trip to a grocery store! The array of delicious smells was incredible—I couldn’t believe how many there were. Even though I was tempted to taste some things, guide dog puppies in training aren’t allowed to eat human food. We’re trained to ignore these tasty distractions so we can focus entirely on our partner. It was challenging, but I managed to stay on track!
I also had my first escalator adventure. At first, my puppy raiser carried me on and off, but after a few trips up and down, he let me navigate it on my own. Next time, I’ll be ready to handle the whole process by myself. It’s crucial for guide dog puppies in training to learn how to handle everyday obstacles we’ll face with our partners.
