I’m currently a Seeing Eye puppy-in-training. While many people use the term “Seeing Eye dog” to describe all guide dogs, it specifically refers to the dogs from The Seeing Eye in Morristown, New Jersey—the first and largest guide dog school in the U.S. It’s similar to how “Kleenex” is often used to refer to all tissues.
The Seeing Eye has generously donated me to the Israel Guide Dog Center. My journey here involves growing up, learning my lessons, and making Aliyah when I’m old enough to start my formal guide dog training. If I excel, I’ll join their breeding colony and contribute significantly to the future of the Israel Guide Dog Center.
I recently met a bunch of fellow Seeing Eye puppies-in-training for the first time—about fifteen of us, including three other German Shepherds. We were all different ages and sizes. We played fun games and exercises. Although I was the smallest of the group, my puppy raiser said I did really well!
