BE A V.I.P.

It stands for...

VISION, INDEPENDENCE & PARTNERSHIP

There are about 17,000 blind people in Israel of these, approximately 200 have guide dogs. After decades of having to send blind Israelis overseas, there is now an opportunity for them to receive their training in Israel with dogs that respond to Hebrew commands.

One of our Future Guide Dogs

Around the world, guide dogs bring new levels of independence and productivity to those who have lost their vision. The Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind was established for blind Israelis who seek increased mobility through use of guide dogs, granting them the opportunity to do so without the need to leave Israel. The Center is especially vital for those who do not speak English well enough to be accepted for training overseas.

It is the mission of the Israel Guide Dog Center to provide improved, safe, independent mobility for blind Israelis and to provide aftercare to guide dog owners to assure that each partnership is working effectively.

Our goal is to find special people "with vision" to support our Partnerships. A Partnership is the pairing of a blind Israeli with a trained guide dog. The cost of a Partnership is $18,000 and includes the purchase or breeding of the puppies, their training, feeding, veterinary care and kennel costs, the instruction of blind applicants in the care and use of a guide dog as well as follow up care for the duration of the Partnership.
